What You Need to Know
What Is a Casket Spray?
A casket spray is a floral arrangement designed to lie flat on top of the coffin during a funeral service. Unlike a funeral flower stand or a funeral wreath, which are displayed around the room, a casket spray rests directly on the coffin itself — making it the closest, most intimate floral tribute possible.
In Singapore, casket sprays are almost always ordered by the immediate family of the deceased. They are not typically sent by friends, colleagues, or extended family, who would more appropriately order a condolence flower stand or a funeral bouquet instead.
The word "spray" refers to the way the arrangement fans outward — a loose, flowing style rather than a tight, structured shape. Casket sprays are designed to look natural and beautiful while lying horizontal, which requires a different arrangement technique than standing displays.
"A casket spray is not just decoration. It is the family's final gift to the person lying inside — flowers that travel with them on their last journey."
— Madam Shun, Founder of FFS Funeral Flowers Singapore
At FFS, every casket spray is assembled fresh on the morning of delivery, using flowers sourced that same day. We do not arrange them the night before and we do not use cold-stored blooms. The family deserves the very best — and fresh flowers make a difference you can see and smell.
Making the Right Choice
Half Casket Spray vs Full Casket Spray — Which to Choose?
The type of casket spray you order depends entirely on whether the coffin will be open or closed during the service. This is something only the immediate family will know — if you are unsure, call the funeral director first, then call us.
Half Casket Spray
Covers the lower half of the coffin lid. Used when the upper half of the coffin is open for viewing during the wake or service. The floral arrangement lies across the foot end of the casket, leaving the upper section unobstructed for family and friends to pay their last respects.
Most common choice in Singapore — the majority of local funeral services keep the upper half of the coffin open.
Full Casket Spray
Covers the entire length of the coffin lid, from head to foot. Used when the coffin is fully closed throughout the service. A full casket spray is a more dramatic and complete tribute — the arrangement entirely replaces the empty lid as the visual focal point of the service.
More common in Christian and Catholic services in Singapore, where the coffin is often kept closed.

Delivery & Timing
Timing Your Casket Spray Delivery — Why It Matters
A casket spray is not like a flower stand. It cannot arrive midway through the wake and be placed later. It must be on the coffin before guests arrive. This is the one thing families forget to plan for — and the one thing that can go wrong if you use a florist who does not understand.

Common Questions
Casket Spray FAQs
Everything families want to know about ordering casket sprays in Singapore.
What is a casket spray and how is it different from a funeral flower stand?
A casket spray is a floral arrangement that lies directly on top of the coffin during the service. A funeral flower stand is an upright arrangement on an easel, displayed around the room. The key difference: a casket spray is ordered by the immediate family and placed on the coffin itself, while a flower stand is typically sent by friends, colleagues, or extended family as a condolence tribute displayed at the wake.
What is the difference between a half casket spray and a full casket spray?
A half casket spray covers the lower half of the coffin lid and is used when the upper half remains open for viewing. A full casket spray covers the entire coffin and is used when the coffin is fully closed. In Singapore, half casket sprays are more common as most local wakes — particularly Buddhist, Taoist, and non-religious services — keep the upper half open for family and guests to pay their final respects.
Can I customise the casket spray flowers or colours?
Yes — all FFS casket sprays can be customised. You can specify flower types, colour palettes, or incorporate favourite flowers of the deceased. Some families in Singapore also add a small personal item or photograph near the arrangement. Simply call us on +65 9135 4444 to discuss your requirements. For large or complex bespoke designs, we recommend calling at least 24 hours before the service.
